The Resident Advocate assesses the social and emotional needs of residents and provides direct social services, including counseling and goal setting. They collaborate with the care team to develop resident plans of care and maintain detailed records of client responses to treatment.
Candidates must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. The role requires professionalism, reliability, and the ability to exercise independent professional judgment in complex social situations.

It is not required that a qualified social worker necessarily provide all of these services, except as required by State law. The regulations do not require a Social Worker when a facility has equal to or less than 120 beds. The Resident Advocate must possess: A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
