Part Time Veterinary Technician - Anesthesia

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brandon, FL is hiring a part time experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team.

Pay

• $20.00 - $40.00 / hour This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system. A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on call schedule is required once training has been completed.

• Technician, you will: Review patient history, weight, and health status Perform pre-anesthetic exams (vitals, bloodwork prep, radiographs) Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheters. Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. Induce, monitor, and recover stable and unstable patients from anesthesia. Recognize, troubleshoot, and treat adverse anesthetic events with clinician support and approval. Place NG tubes and sampling catheters. Blood type and cross match patients in need of blood transfusion, and administer blood products using medical quality gold standard of care. Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal. Able to set up intravenous fluids. Administers subcutaneous fluids. Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors. Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically. Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload. CVT (not required but preferred) Why BluePearl? Our passion is pets.
