Exotics Veterinary Assistant

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience in a veterinary practice highly preferred
• Experience handling avian and exotic species preferred but not required
• Strong verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Comfortable handling and working with a variety of animal species
• Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required

Professional development

For Veterinary Assistants

• Professional development support through the Penn Foster program
• Partial tuition sponsorship available (employment agreement required)

For Licensed Veterinary Technicians

• $1,500 annual continuing education budget
• 40 paid CE hours annually
• Mentorship from a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) for those pursuing specialty certification
