The Patient Care Technician I provides direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, performing phlebotomy, and assisting with daily living activities. They collaborate with the healthcare team to monitor patient conditions and maintain a safe, organized clinical environment.
Candidates must have a high school diploma, BLS certification, and current Maryland state certification as a CNA or GNA. While no prior experience is required, previous direct patient care experience in a healthcare facility is preferred.
Job Requirements Under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, the Patient Care Technician I delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, performing phlebotomy, and collecting specimen samples. This position ensures patient safety and comfort, actively participates in admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, and collaborates with the healthcare team to monitor and communicate changes in patient condition. Additional responsibilities encompass wound care, urinary catheter management, blood glucose monitoring, orthopedic device maintenance, and upholding a safe and organized clinical environment. The technician strictly follows safety protocols, promptly responds to patient alarms, and supports the enhancement of patient outcomes through cost-effective practices and efficient patient flow, while performing all other duties as assigned.
