About the role

The Clinic Nurse assists practitioners with patient management and treatment in primary and occupational health settings. Responsibilities include maintaining patient flow, performing basic nursing skills, and managing the upkeep of exam rooms.

NeoPath Health, Inc., a Minnesota based administrator of employer based medical services, is in search of a full-time clinic nurse to work at the Prairie Island Health Center in Welch, MN.

Position Summary

The Clinic Nurse is responsible for assisting practitioners and clinical team members with the management and treatment of patients in a primary care and/or occupational health care setting. The Clinic Nurse will perform administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a practitioner. They will be responsible for keeping the medical office or facility running smoothly. The Clinic Nurse assumes responsibility for maintaining patient flow, upkeep of exam and treatment rooms, performing basic nursing skills such as taking vital signs and point of care testing. This position requires a high degree of interpersonal, organizational, and clinical skills. The individual who holds this position exemplifies NeoPath’s commitment to working as a part of a highly engaged clinical team to provide an exceptional patient care experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Welcomes patients and visitors by warmly greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone, and makes every effort to meet their needs.

Verifies patient information by interviewing patients; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit, treatment, and all pertinent health information.

Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care practitioners during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; dispensing medication as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood; taking electrocardiograms; removing sutures and other duties as assigned.

Coordinates and maintains organized patient flow.

Prepares and supports patients and assists practitioners with procedures.

Performs basic lab and testing procedures according to standards.

Administers injections including immunizations as ordered by practitioner(s).

Demonstrates appropriate care for patients throughout the care continuum, including pediatric and elderly patients. Provides culturally sensitive care.

Documents pertinent patient-related information in the EHR (Electronic health record) per policy.

Cleans, prepares, and stocks exam rooms, treatment rooms, and workstations.

Contacts patients regarding follow-up, test results, medical instruction, and patient education under the direction of a practitioner.

Communicates with outside clinical partners under the direction of the practitioner.

Assists in the care, cleaning, and sterilization of equipment and instruments.

Maintains quality control for equipment.

Utilizes safety standards, clinical best practices in all aspects of care delivery.

Follows all NeoPath policies and processes.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program, RN preferred
  • Current Nursing License required
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills required, EHR experience preferred
  • Ability to cooperate, collaborate and communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Working 40 hours per week, consisting of 4 10 hours shifts from 730a-530p Monday-Friday. No weekends, evenings, holidays, or after-hours call.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing program with a current nursing license and BLS certification. Experience with phlebotomy and EHR systems is preferred.
