Assist dental providers in delivering high-quality preventive and restorative oral health care to diverse patient populations. Responsibilities include preparing operatories, sterilizing instruments, and managing patient documentation within the EHR system.
Requires a high school diploma and at least one year of clinical dental assisting experience or completion of a training program. Proficiency in electronic health records and strong communication skills are essential.
Provides efficient and effective patient care according to the adopted clinical standards. Prepares dental operatory for intended patient treatment. Seats the patient, confirms patient identity, collects blood pressures, pulse, and when required, blood glucose or consent. Follows EHR / EDR workflow documentation as directed. Cleans operatory after patient treatment according to CDC infection control guidelines. Maintain operatory inventory to minimize need for disruptions to workflow during procedures. Efficiently assists dentists and dental hygienists to optimize provider productivity. Cleans and sterilizes instruments according to all policies and procedures. Teeth to be extracted will be verified with the patient, using a hand mirror, and then documented in the chart so the patient is aware of the tooth to be extracted. Provide understandable and complete instructions for procedures done and post-op care, using diverse learning techniques, and documentation of the patients understanding. Schedule return appointments. Meets all accepted dental treatment standards to provide quality patient-centered care. Participates constructively as a clinical team member. Meets staff satisfaction expectations. Communicates openly with other staff and site managers. QualificationsProfessional and Technical Knowledge: Possesses a thorough understanding of theory and practices of dentistry, typically acquired through completion of a dental assisting curriculum or 1 year of on the job dental training experience at a dental office required. Maintains certification requirements. Proficient in use of current Electronic Health Record. Ability to use and respond to e-mail. Possesses a professional level of written and verbal communication skills Possesses excellent cross cultural communication skills and the ability to communicate to staff members at all levels Required Experience: - Minimum of 1 year of experience as a dental assistant in a clinical setting. - Experience working with diverse patient populations is advantageous. - Familiarity with dental software and electronic health records is preferred. Required Education: - High school diploma or equivalent is required. - Completion of an accredited dental assistant training program is preferred. Physical Demands Job duties are performed in the typical office environment of the organization, which requires ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations. The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, frequently sit, and lift up to 25 lbs Requires good hand-eye coordination, reach with arms & hands, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and manipulate (using keyboard, office equipment, dental equipment) Visual acuity to use keyboard, operate office equipment, and read printed material and regularly required to talk and hear.
