The RN Float nurse provides direct and indirect patient care across various hospital units including Med/Surg, ICU, and the Emergency Department. Responsibilities include assessing patient health, developing and implementing care plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Requires a graduate degree from an accredited nursing program and at least 2 years of acute care experience. Must hold a valid North Carolina or Multi-State RN license and obtain BLS, ACLS, PALS, and de-escalation certifications.
A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Health is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient. The RN Float nurse is expected to function independently in a variety of care settings, including but not limited to: Med/Surg, ICU, Emergency Dept, 2 East Behavioral Health Holding area, Same Day Care Unit, and Endoscopy.
Required: Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
Preferred: Graduate of an Accredited four year Nursing Program (BSN)
Required: A minimum of 2 years� nursing experience in acute care/hospital setting.
Experience in the following specialty areas: medical/surgical, emergency department, behavioral health, and outpatient perioperative care settings.
Basic de-escalation training within 6 months of hire. Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within 6 months of hire and then annually thereafter. A pediatric educational course specific to assessment, recognition, and stabilization of emergency conditions is required within 12 months and maintained going forward.
The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a North Carolina license. However, the North Carolina nursing license will be a single state license for North Carolina Residents or non-compact state residents. North Carolina licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-North Carolina residents.
