Provides nursing care to patients in a critical access hospital under the supervision of a licensed professional. Responsibilities include performing basic nursing skills, administering medications, and coordinating care plans with the healthcare team.
Requires graduation from an accredited School of Vocational Nursing and a current LVN license in the State of Texas. BLS certification is required, and one year of experience as an LVN is preferred.
Provides nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed professional to meet regulatory standards for the critical access hospital. Assists the professional nursing staff in providing maximum patient care, assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of each assigned patient. Under supervision gives direct and indirect patient care as assigned. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.
Education – Graduate of an accredited School of Vocational Nursing Job Related skills – Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills License, Registry or Certification – Licensed Vocational Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas. Current BLS certification and other certifications required for CAH staffing. IV therapy course preferred. Experience – Prior Work Experience - One year as a licensed Vocational Nurse preferred.. Technical Training – Computer skills required. Physical and Mental Requirements - Position requires extended periods of walking and standing. Repeated bending, stooping and reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds. Transferring and lifting or supporting patients who may experience sudden weakness or inability to stand. The ability to comprehend and follow written or verbal instructions and directions and to instruct employees. OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS Follows aseptic procedures and procedures for using precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potential infectious materials. Maintains HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis. Follows MCHD Policies and Procedures and safety guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned by the department management staff. Performs essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
