The RN-OB/L&D educates and supports mothers and families throughout the birthing process and collaborates with physicians, (Doula), and healthcare teams to ensure positive patient outcomes. The RN-Birth Center delivers professional nursing care to patients within the hospital, using established Standards of Nursing Practice and RN Scope of Practice. Continuous monitoring of maternal vital signs, contractions, fetal heart rate, and progress during labor.
Guides mothers, administering pain relief (epidurals), assisting with interventions (forceps/vacuum), and preparing for childbirth.
Supports physicians/providers during vaginal and C-section deliveries, ensuring readiness for emergencies.
Cares for mother and baby immediately after birth, educating on newborn care, breastfeeding, and monitoring recovery.
Maintains accurate patient charts and medical records. Documents patient assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing interventions and progress towards problem resolution and patient goals.
Prepares rooms and equipment, ensuring supplies for unexpected C-sections or emergencies are always ready.
Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, and family.
Provides care in non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to age appropriate, and patient and family’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity, and rights.
Reports patient condition to provider and health care team as appropriate during each shift.

Graduated of an accredited school of nursing
Current licensure in good standing in the state of practice (MN)
Evidence of BLS credential mandatory
BLS/ACLS required.
One year+ experience as an L&D or Postpartum nurse is required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
