The Vascular Access Nurse is responsible for the assessment and placement of PICCs and the management of various central and peripheral catheters. Additionally, the role serves as a resource to educate nursing staff on IV skills and monitors CLABSI data with Infection Control.
Candidates must hold a Florida Registered Nurse License, BLS certification, and a diploma or associate degree in nursing. Expertise in venous access and ultrasound guidance is required, with VA-BC certification and PICC placement experience preferred.

Under the direction of the Unit Director/Manager, the Vascular Access Nurse responsibilities encompass assessment and placement of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), as well as routine management of peripheral IV catheters, PICCs, central venous catheters and midlines. To be a highly valued resource to educate and enhance IV skills of the overall nursing staff of UFHCF on a continuing basis. Monitor CLABSI data with Infection Control Nurse.
