Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to deliver safe and appropriate patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Ensures adherence to regulatory standards and promotes professional growth through continuing education and mentoring.
Requires a graduate degree from an accredited vocational or practical nursing school and a current State of Texas LVN license. A minimum of three years of LVN experience, preferably in an acute care setting, and BLS certification are required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate from an accredited school of vocational nursing or licensed practical nursing Licenses/Certifications: Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN); Certified in Basic Life Support Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and /or nursing unit requirements Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Minimum of (3) three years prior LVN experience preferably in acute care setting PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Delivers safe and appropriate care to patients, according to the nursing skills inventory and the age and needs of patient/population served, within the scope of licensure. The LVN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in the delivery of patient care; supporting and collaborating with the Registered Nurse in providing direction to the healthcare team. Participates in a systemic, interdisciplinary, and ongoing evaluation of programs, process improvement and desired client-centered outcomes. Considers the diverse needs of each patient through the entire continuum of care, providing and ensuring the highest level of service according to established service standards, optimizing the patient experience. Adheres to all regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing standards. Performs other duties as assigned, within the scope of practice and clinical competency. Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
