Perform MRI studies including patient screening, positioning, and image acquisition according to study protocols. Assist the Principal Investigator with data collection, image transfer, and maintaining research documentation.
Must be registered with ARMRIT, ARRT, ARDMS, or NMTCB with an advanced MRI registry or be registry eligible. Requires proficiency in MRI processes, computer skills, and a background in radiology or healthcare.
Under general supervision, performs magnetic resonance imaging studies using a magnetic resonance imaging device, which includes screening and preparing patients, positioning, setting imaging parameters, and performing computer processing and displaying images. Assists in developing protocol for patient studies. Performs quality control procedures on equipment. This position will be required to work on-site, 20 hours a week, on Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. Background checks will be administered. About The Program This is a part-time position supporting the Blast Overpressure Longitudinal Exposure Study (BLES), a longitudinal study of the effects of blast overpressure on Special Operations Forces personnel. Under the supervision of the BLES team, the MRI Technologist will screen research participants for MRI safety/study eligibility, prepare participants for scanning, position participants for scanning, set imaging parameters, and acquire MRI scans per the study protocol. Salary Range $36.00 - $42.00 Hourly. Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position. Qualifications Must be registered with the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), or must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography, American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) with the advanced ARRT registry in MRI or registry eligible. If registry eligible, registry must be current as of date of hire. Proficiency with MRI process Health care background and/or degree preferred Accredited training in a radiology program Knowledge of military system preferred Knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to MRI exams and equipment Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication Knowledge of imaging techniques to perform routine tests Knowledge of imaging equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, e-mail, and database systems Responsibilities Assists Principal Investigator with the following: Monitors participant data Collection of data and data entry Transfers images from disk to magnetic media to produce the transparency Develops film in automatic processor Adheres to OSHA and infection control procedures Demonstrates proficiency in operating a magnetic resonance scanner and obtaining images Documents all correspondence and communication pertinent to the research Interacts and communicates effectively with PI, other site personnel, research participants, The Geneva Foundation and the study sponsor As a leader in military medical research, at Geneva, our professionals develop critical solutions – and build rewarding careers.
