Bloomington/Bedford - INIndiana Masonic Home Compass Park is looking to add a Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) for Home Health. Compass Park is a vast 320-acre community in the heart of Johnson County adjacent to Indianapolis. It is a vibrant community through all seasons and a place of beauty, rich in tall trees and winding footpaths. This job is in Bloomington/Bedford area.
The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to deliver high-quality, goal-oriented therapy services in patients' homes. This role focuses on improving patients' ability to perform daily living activities, enhancing their independence, and ensuring a safe home environment. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with excellent clinical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Patient Care and Therapy Delivery: Carry out treatment plans as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist to assist patients in regaining independence in activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions, including exercises, activities, and adaptive techniques to improve function, mobility, and strength. Teach patients and caregivers the use of assistive devices and adaptive equipment to optimize recovery and safety. Monitor and report patient progress and responses to treatments to the Occupational Therapist, making recommendations for adjustments as necessary. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the supervising Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care. Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to provide education and updates regarding treatment plans and goals. Address patient and caregiver concerns with empathy and professionalism, promoting a positive therapeutic relationship. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions, treatments, and progress notes in compliance with agency policies and state/federal regulations. Submit required documentation promptly to ensure continuity of care. Adhere to agency protocols and compliance standards, including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines. Professional Development: Stay up-to-date on advancements in occupational therapy techniques, home health practices, and adaptive equipment. Participate in continuing education opportunities to maintain licensure and certifications. Contribute to the agency's quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives and other clinical programs as needed. COTA Requirements: Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Active licensure in the state(s) of practice. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a clinical or home health setting preferred. Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, techniques, and home health care practices. Proficiency in documentation and use of electronic medical records (EMR). Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to diverse home environments.
