Plans and implements professional nursing care for adult and geriatric patients in a Nephrology Med/Surg unit. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, administering medications, and serving as a charge nurse when assigned.
Requires an Associate Degree in Nursing and current North Carolina or Compact state RN licensure. BLS certification is required, and over one year of medical-surgical or critical care experience is necessary.
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training: Associates Degree in Nursing or equivalent required Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure Unit Description: 3 North is a 22-Bed Medical-Telemetry and Nephrology Unit consisting of adult and geriatric patients, working on a track schedule Patient ratio is 1:6 Our Care Team consists of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Clinical Educator and Nurse Manager Work Experience: Three years of related experience preferred Greater than one year of experience in medical-surgical or critical care nursing This role requires a high level of empathy, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team Possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, high attention to detail, and direct patient care Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills Verbal and written skills required Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served Physical Requirements: Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs Visual acuity for observation of patients Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material Must be able to lift 35 pounds Required Licenses and Certifications BLS - American Heart Association, RN - Board Of Nursing Cape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity For exceptional healthcare come to Cape Fear Valley Health where caring employees are committed to integrity, patient-centeredness and excellence throughout the entire healthcare process.
