The Behavioral Health Counselor participates as an integral professional member of a multi-disciplinary team, implementing and assisting in the supervision of social service interventions to patients. The Behavioral Health Counselor demonstrates understanding and interpretation of facility policies to ensure that policies are adhered to. The social worker will conduct therapy groups according to daily program schedule. Group content will be selected according to the current population to promote the most effective therapeutic services. The provider will complete assessments, communicate with family members, complete treatment plans, and participate in staffing with treatment team as needed. Furthermore, the social service provider will demonstrate a strong knowledge in a wide range of disorders; cognitive, emotional, and developmental, social and behavioral. Additional duties include performing crisis intervention, special case conferences, and communication to outside agencies to ensure that the patient rights, care, and needs are met.
Education: Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health discipline from an accredited program required.
Active
Louisiana licensure in one of the following: PLPC, LPC, CSW, LMSW, or LCSW. Current CPR/BLS certification through the American Heart Association. (Will provide service or renewal if needed)
Experience: Experience in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), partial hospitalization, or outpatient behavioral health setting. (Preferred) Experience with group therapy facilitation. (Preferred) Strong clinical documentation and organizational skills. (Required)
