The Cardiology Technologist performs various cardiac diagnostic tests, including echocardiograms, stress tests, and electrocardiograms. They are responsible for applying Holter monitors and managing patient health information.
Candidates must have completed an accredited echocardiography program or possess at least 5 years of acute care experience. Certification as an RDCS or RCS is required, along with the physical ability to lift 30 pounds and pass a FIT test.
Description The Cardiology Technologist performs transthoracic echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, transesophogeal echocardiograms, treadmills, cardiac stress test (including exercise, pharmacologic, and nuclear medicine), 12-lead electrocardiograms, peripheral arterial studies using segmental pressures, and Holtor Monitor (application and scanning). Has full access to patient health information.
Successful completion of an accredited echocardiography program or minimum 5 years echocardiography experience in an acute care setting. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) Computer skills preferred. Must possess full range of body motion to pass a basic FIT test to include bending, stooping, standing and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
