The Coding Specialist III is responsible for assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient encounters to ensure proper DRG assignment and reimbursement. They also provide guidance and coaching to other coding staff to maintain coding integrity and accuracy standards.
Candidates must have a high school diploma, a coding or HIM program completion, and at least three years of acute care Level I trauma hospital coding experience. Required certifications include RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CIC, along with a minimum score of 85% on a pre-employment coding test.
