Job description
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, as a Mammography Technologist in the Radiology Department.
Here, under the supervision of the Supervisor, you will give work direction to assigned personnel and participate in the operation of providing Mammography services to both inpatients and outpatients of all ages, at all CHHD sites; Harvey, Calumet City, Flossmoor and Tinley Park.
The Mammography Technologist participates in ACR Accreditation process and in maintaining ACR standards for mammography, in Radiologic Services Quality Assurance Committee with applicable indicators submitted as scheduled, and participates in hospital based TQM/CQI activities as requested.
This position is a 100% onsite opportunity.
You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Essential Job Functions
Assists clerical staff with entering correct orders on patients
Demonstrates a positive, supportive attitude to patient, families and other personnel consistently, and in emergency and non-emergency situations
Supply patient with required forms before exam begins.
Position patient for mammography exam, adjust detector and paddles as needed.
If patient has previous outside mammography films but are not available at the time of exam, follow the Policy and Procedure for obtaining outside films.
Shows understanding and participates in all quality control testing as required by MQSA/FDA guidelines
Participates and assists in yearly inspections by the State of Illinois (IEMA).
Participates and assists in the accreditation process by the American College of Radiology (ACR), every 3 years

Leaves work area neat, clean and orderly at end of shift
Checks supplies and restocks if needed
Ensures that the appropriate equipment accessories are available within each mammography room
Maintains responsibility for attendance and punctuality
Assists in enhancing productivity and efficient operation of the mammography suite
Exercises initiative, seeking additional tasks form supervisor or other staff members when time permits
Accepts assignments with no unwarranted documented complaints of unfair workload
Introduce self to patient by name and title 100% of the time
Explains procedure to the patient, significant other and families when applicable 100% of the time
Preserves patient’s dignity, privacy and modesty, following all HIPPA guidelines
Demonstrates knowledge of age specific factors necessary to perform duties safely and effectively
Attends relevant workshops, conferences and seminars
Utilizes available resources
Attends all mandatory departmental and hospital in-services
Formulates written goals and objectives, and review annually with manager
Seeks education and learning experience in areas of identified growth needs and reviews progress during annual evaluation
Performs other duties assigned
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an approved school of radiologic technologists
Current certification in mammography with the American Registry (ARRT)
Current licensure by the State of Illinois to perform Radiography procedures (IEMA)
15 CEU’s at all times, specific to breast or mammography
1 year experience as radiographer/mammographer
