About the

Department: The environment on our unit is fast-paced, collaborative, and a high-acuity area that incorporates state-of-the-art advanced heart interventions.

We care for adult patients ranging in age from 18 years and older who require ventricular assist devices (VADs), pre- and post-heart transplants, pre-and post-coronary artery bypass and valve surgeries, advanced heart failure treatments, and pre-and post-procedures.

We also manage those patients with chest pain, arrhythmia, and myocardial infarctions.

Procedures include cardiac catheterization, radiofrequency ablation, cardioversions, percutaneous coronary intervention, and implantation of pacemakers or automatic cardiac defibrillators.

Our patients are unique because we are the only unit outside of VUMC’s Cardiovascular ICU that is trained to care for VAD patients.

At this time, we are the only VUMC stepdown unit trained to perform peritoneal dialysis.

Your Schedule: Full-Time Night Shift - 6:45 pm - 7:15 am (three 12-hour shifts/week) Shifts rotate throughout the week Note: Set schedules are not available.

Schedules are determined by unit clinical staffing needs.

All Employees (Night shift & PRN included) are required to attend hospital orientation during regular daytime hours during the first week of employment.

What You Need to Qualify: Required: High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) AND one of the following: Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester (including nursing fundamentals clinical), or Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required), or Minimum of one year of recent experience (within the past two years) as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician.
