The University of Washington Medical Center – Montlake Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Vestibular Audiologist Specialist 2 within the Vestibular Diagnostics Laboratory / Dizziness and Balance Center. WORK SCHEDULE Full-Time / 40 Hours Per Week Day Shift POSITION HIGHLIGHTS UW Medicine’s Dizziness and Balance Center is a regional center of excellence providing comprehensive evaluation of patients with complex vestibular, neurotologic, and neurologic disorders. This position offers the opportunity to work in a high-volume, multidisciplinary environment—approximately 500–600 full vestibular workups annually—with exposure to the full spectrum of vestibular pathology and advanced diagnostic testing. The Vestibular Diagnostics Laboratory is directed by Dr. James O. Phillips and is closely integrated with Neurotology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Primary Care. The laboratory supports preoperative diagnostic workup for otologic, neurotologic, and skull base surgery—including superior semicircular canal dehiscence repair, surgical management of Ménière’s disease, cochlear implantation, and acoustic neuroma resection. The audiologist in this role will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and rehabilitation specialists, with opportunities to engage in active clinical and research programs within the Department of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery and the University of Washington. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently perform and interpret vestibular diagnostic testing across a broad range of conditions, with complexity appropriate to experience level (Spec 1–3)
Administer comprehensive vestibular test battery including VNG, vHIT, cVEMP/oVEMP, rotational chair, and computerized dynamic posturography
Perform detailed patient history intake and ensure appropriate test selection and protocol execution
Provide preliminary interpretation and communicate findings to referring providers
Collaborate closely with Neurotology and Neurology teams in coordinated patient care
Ensure high-quality, reproducible testing consistent with lab protocols and best practices
Participate in quality assurance and protocol development
Educate patients regarding testing procedures and results
Maintain accurate and timely documentation and charge capture
Participate in training of students, residents, and new staff as appropriate
Engage in departmental education and clinical research initiatives REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Licensed by the State of Washington as a Speech Language Pathologist or Audiologist. A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association AND Two years of experience as a speech pathologist, audiologist, or equivalent.
