We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support the Wellesley College practice on-site Monday through Friday. We are open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 6:00pm. Shifts are staggered to ensure we have Medical Assistant coverage for all hours of operations.
Our Medical Assistants play an integral part in the operations of our community-based physician practices.
Dedicated to clinical support, the Medical Assistant ensures a smooth patient flow within the practice and assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of physician or advanced practitioner.

Summary The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Essential Functions-Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
Qualifications: Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, with an Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting preferred. Candidates must have 1-2 years of direct medical assistant experience and BLS certification.
