Administer pre-surgery care and medications while adhering to pre-operation policies. Monitor post-operative patients for vital signs, manage pain and nausea, and assess surgical sites for complications.

Registered Nurse, Pre-Operative and Post Anesthesia Care Unit– Olympia Orthopaedic Associates

Location: Olympia Surgery Center

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule

Multiple scheduling options are available. The surgery center is primarily open Monday-Friday, but occasional Saturdays may be worked. The Pre-Op/PACU team rotates on-call, and some over-night shifts may be required depending on patient needs and recovery time.

Pay

$42.40 - $71.52 per hour

(Pay is determined based on years of experience)

Summary of benefits

The benefits outlined below are for a 1.0 FTE employment status. PRN staff are not eligible for full benefits, but may participate in the 401k plan and will accrue paid sick leave.

OOA covers part or all of the cost for Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-term Disability Insurance. Employees are eligible to participate in a 401k plan with company matching. Flex spending plans, uniform allowances, and an Employee Assistance Program available as well. New, full-time staff will accrue a minimum of 17 days of paid time off per year.

Olympia Orthopaedics is a drug-free, alcohol-free, and smoke-free workplace. If offered employment, passage of background screen and pre-employment drug screen is required. Please note nicotine levels are included in testing.

Registered Nurse Job Duties

  • Pre-Operative –
  • Administering care to patients prior to surgery.
  • Administer pre-surgery medication under the guidance of the physician and or physician assistant.
  • Evaluate and access admission documents, identify emergency procedures, and adhere to necessary pre-operation policies and procedures.
  • PACU-
  • Monitors (heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, and respiratory rate)
  • Treating symptoms of postoperative nausea and vomiting
  • Managing post-operative pain
  • Treating post-anesthetic shivering
  • Monitoring surgical site(s) for excessive bleeding, discharge, swelling, hematoma, redness, etc.

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • IV Therapy experience (starting, discontinuing IVs, and administering medication).
  • Graduate of an accredited State Board of Nursing program. Current Registered Nurse in the State of Washington required.
  • Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire.
