The Nurse Practitioner provides advanced medical care and comprehensive assessments for critically ill cardiac patients in an intensive care setting. They are responsible for establishing diagnoses, managing therapeutic interventions, and coordinating care with the cardiovascular critical care team.
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Nursing and be a licensed advanced practice nurse in Georgia with Acute Care certification. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association.

Under general supervision, medical consultation, and direction as outlined in an approved Georgia Nurse Protocol Agreement, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced nursing and medical care to critically ill cardiac patients in the intensive care setting. The NP performs comprehensive assessments; establishes medical diagnoses; orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests; initiates and manages therapeutic interventions; and coordinates care in collaboration with the cardiovascular critical care team. Practice is conducted in accordance with Georgia Board of Nursing regulations, institutional policies, and the NP’s education, training, certification, and granted clinical privileges.
