The Monitor Technician is responsible for continuously observing and interpreting EKG tracings for telemetry-monitored patients. They must promptly notify clinical staff of any dysrhythmias or critical findings to ensure patient safety.
A high school diploma and completion of a monitor technician surveillance program are required. Candidates must also pass a basic arrhythmia competency exam prior to completing orientation.
As an integral part of the clinical team, the Monitor Technician is responsible for observing and interpreting electrocardiographic (EKG) tracings on telemetry-monitored patients. By detecting deviations from a patient's normal baseline and promptly notifying the appropriate nursing and medical personnel, this role plays a vital part in ensuring patient safety and effective care.
