The Medication Aide is responsible for recording patient vital signs, administering medications, and performing CLIA waived tests. They also handle clinic administrative tasks such as scheduling referrals, managing phone messages, and maintaining accurate electronic medical records.
Candidates must hold a High School diploma or GED and a current BLS certification. An active 40-hour Medication Aid Certification through the state of Nebraska is required.

· Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rates, height, weight, and pulse oximetry. · Check patient into treatment room and starts clinic chart with allergies, health history, vital signs, medication reconciliation and any other pertinent information as requested by the provider. · Administer medications as ordered by the provider and noted by the provider or R.N/L.P.N. through a verbal order · Apply compresses, ice bags, and dressings that are ordered by the provider · Performs CLIA waived tests available within the RHC as ordered by the provider and noted by provider or R.N/L.P.N. (verbal order to be entered by licensed personnel only) · Assist with scheduling referrals. · Observe and report changes in the patient’s status · Assist with setting up auxiliary equipment or procedures as necessary · Answers phone calls, takes phone messages, removes voicemail messages from workgroup mailboxes and delivers them to R.N. or L.P.N to be addressed. · Notify patients of normal test results as instructed by provider and document notification and patient response in the electronic medical record. · Communicate information to patients as requested by providers when clinical judgment and knowledge is not required. · Perform Prior-Authorizations for Medication · Comply with federal and state standards and laws · Maintain accurate documentation · Report any suspected or known illegal activity. · Regular attendance · Other duties as assigned by management.
· Must Hold a High School diploma or GED · Prefer healthcare experience. · Must Hold an active 40-hour Medication Aid Certification through the state of Nebraska. All hired Medication Aids prior to 2022 will be grandfathered into this requirement. · Current BLS certification. · Must annually perform and pass competencies for each CLIA Waived test available in the clinic. This will be assessed by SRMC Lab staff.
