Provide immediate crisis intervention and mental health services to consumers with chronic mental illness and co-occurring substance abuse issues. Coordinate community resources, manage cases, and maintain detailed documentation within a multi-disciplinary team.
Requires a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field and at least one year of professional experience. Candidates must be able to perform Handle with Care Behavior Management techniques and pass comprehensive background checks.
Under the supervision of a Supervisor or Coordinator, serves as a professional performing a wide range of direct and indirect mental health and substance abuse services within a multi-disciplinary, crisis-oriented team to provide immediate crisis intervention services to consumers with a chronic mental illness and possibly developmental disability and/or co-occurring substance abuse issues. Coordinates services being provided to consumers with CMHA-CEI and links consumers to necessary community resources. Recommends referrals to various programs, program components and other services in the community. May provide case management; facilitation of a brief crisis intervention plan; outreach to consumers with multiple needs; and mental health services in a short-term crisis intervention program. Responsible for detailed case documentation. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, or related field is required. A minimum of one year of professional experience specific to the area of assignment is required. On a case-by-case basis, may assess and consider an applicant with two years of paraprofessional work experience with the assigned population. Must be able to perform Handle with Care Behavior Management techniques according to approved Agency standards. Must be able to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and in written form. Must have the ability to operate a computer. May be required to have a valid Michigan driver's license. Must have access to reliable means of transportation for job-related use. Other requirements, if needed, will depend upon area of assignment and program need.
