Requires a high school diploma and at least two years of experience working with animals in a clinical or research setting. AALAS certification is preferred, along with the ability to work in ABSL-2 and ABSL-3 containment environments.

JOB SUMMARY UT Southwestern is actively seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician I to join our Animal Resource Center (ARC) team, to support daily clinical care, surgical assistance, diagnostic testing, and health monitoring for a variety of research animals. We are looking for someone with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a clinical or research animal setting; AALAS certification is preferred; strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in standard and containment (ABSL‑2/3) environments. As Veterinary Technician I, responsibilities include pre‑/post‑operative monitoring, blood collection, routine diagnostics, and accurate medical recordkeeping; works under general supervision to provide technical assistance to veterinary medical or research staff in delivering health care, including veterinary medicine, surgery, and radiology, to laboratory animals. Provides organization and coordination of veterinary technical tasks. Work Location: Dallas Campus; may or may not require travel to and from other UTSW locations. Shift Requirement: Days, Monday through Friday; Rotating on-call; overtime available with management approval.
