The Patient Care Technician provides routine direct nursing care to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include performing phlebotomy, point of care testing, and reporting changes in patient condition.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and be at least 18 years of age. BLS certification is required, and direct patient care experience is preferred.
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for providing nursing care to patients under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse. Incumbents perform routine direct patient care activities following established policies and procedures in a manner conducive to the safety and comfort of the patient. The PCT performs observations of patients and reports changes in patient condition to the registered nurse. The PCT performs specific skills including phlebotomy and point of care testing (POCT).
