POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for continuous observation of patients’ monitors, leads and/or activity and behaviors, and for reporting pertinent changes and abnormalities to the appropriate clinical staff. This position is also responsible for maintaining logs of activity and changes or behaviors in accordance with facility standards. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Provides continuous observation of monitors, leads and/or activity and behaviors for assigned patients. Must be aware of pertinent medical history, medications and code status for each of their assigned patients. Alerts appropriate clinical staff of any changes and abnormalities. 2. Obtains calibrated rhythm strips per policy and maintains documentation in accordance with facility standards. Documents changes in clinical and/or behavioral activity. 3. Provides information and summaries to physicians and staff. 4. Monitors and assists in the maintenance of monitoring equipment. 5. May provide general support to the department, including greeting and assisting patients, visitors, physicians, and ancillary personnel. 6. Works under general supervision. Interacts with all levels of staff within the facility, physicians, patients, families and external contacts and vendors. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Current BLS certification may be required in certain departments. Current BLS certification is required for Banner Staffing Services (BSS) monitor technicians. Depending on department assignment, completion of unit approved basic electrocardiogram
