Job Summary

Performs MRI procedures at a technical and professional level not requiring constant supervision and direction. Performs a variety of technical procedures with competence, commitment, and initiative.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • 1.
  • Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • 2.
  • Current licensure by the State of Oregon in required modalities.
  • 3.
  • Certification in CPR / AED.
  • 4.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5.
  • Working knowledge of Medical terminology, computers and typing experience.
  • 6.
  • Detail oriented and effective organizational skills.
  • 7.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff, providers and the public.
  • 8.
  • Must be able to occasionally accommodate flexible hours and shifts pending department needs.
  • 9.
  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision making.
  • 10.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, while keeping close attention to accuracy with minimal supervision.
  • 11.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team participant.

Preferred Qualifications

1. At least two years recent experience in MRI. 2. Interpret orders for routine and special MRI studies with minimal or no supervision. 3. Must have sufficient creativity and independent judgment to modify learned skills to fit individual patient circumstances.

Essential Functions

1.

If designated by Imaging Director; must perform and be in charge of ACR Accreditation for sites specified, be in charge of inspections, submitting renewals, and successful accreditation.

2.

Prioritize patient care and service above all other duties.

3.

Assist patients with transportation needs when necessary.

4.

Must support safety in the work environment.

5.

Assure image quality before patient leaves the department.

6.

Practice Universal Precautions.

7.

Notify department director/manager of any accident or incident to any persons or equipment.

8.

Maintain work area in clean, organized and well-stocked condition.

9.

Must keep the highest degree of Metal Precautions and MRI safety at the forefront of each decision.

10.

Prioritize and follow all ACR accreditation regulations.

11.

Review and research implantable devices for scanning safety and clear/deny implants.

12.

Ability to work on both Closed Bore and Open MRI at both sites.

Modality Specific Functions

1.

Produce high quality diagnostic studies as measured by feedback from consulting Radiologists and follow established scan protocols.

2.

Establish IV’s and administer oral and IV contrast media as prescribed by Radiologist and recognize signs and symptoms of contrast reaction/ extravasation and proper protocol for treatment.

3.

Accept delegated tasks from leadership

Other Duties

  • 1.
  • Serve as mentor to new staff and students as assigned.
  • 2.
  • Works closely with Director of Imaging Services on temporary assignments of a variety of tasks.
  • 3.
  • Operate departmental computer systems.
  • 4.
  • Supports and suggest process improvement and departmental implementations.
  • 5.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, problem solving groups and in-service educational opportunities on on-going bases.
  • 6.
  • Daily re-stocking of linen closets.
  • 7.
  • Actively participate in Safety Committee Projects 8.
  • Assists as a Chaperone or Assistant for Male sonographers and Male MRI techs

Requires ARRT certification, Oregon state licensure, and CPR/AED certification. A high school diploma is required, with a preference for at least two years of recent MRI experience.
