Responsibilities:
Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and documenting chief complaints
Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures
Perform basic laboratory tests, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing
Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider and within scope of practice
Perform EKGs and other diagnostic tests as required
Clean and sterilize medical instruments and maintain exam rooms
Schedule patient appointments and manage calendars
Verify patient information, insurance, and obtain necessary authorizations
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EHR system
Handle phone calls, patient inquiries, and follow-up communication
Assist with billing and coding processes as needed
Provide compassionate, patient-centered care and education
Crosstrain and provide coverage in staffing, in the absence of regularly scheduled staff, and when additional assistance is needed and/or determined necessary, by provider practice leadership.
Ensure proper labeling, handling, and transport of lab specimens and perform basic waived testing as permitted.
