Performs specimen collection via venipuncture and finger sticks and processes samples for medical laboratory testing. Coordinates with other departments to ensure the quality and flow of lab work while maintaining equipment and supplies.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT I, CPT II, NHA, or NCCT) or MLT license. BLS and Hospital Fire and Life Safety certifications are also required.
Performs specimen collection and accession receiving. Distributes specimens to designated departments. Collects and processes appropriate patient specimens and samples for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease to conduct medical laboratory testing. Focuses on phlebotomy and specimen collection; may perform other, less complex technical and clerical tasks.
