The Credentialing Coordinator manages the processing of applications for medical and allied health staff to ensure compliance with hospital bylaws and Joint Commission standards. They maintain clinical privilege records and verify current licenses, DEAs, and malpractice insurance.
A high school diploma is required, while an associate degree in business or a related field is preferred. Candidates must have 2 years of experience in a medical staff office and hold or be eligible for CPMSN and CPCS certifications.
Job Description: Summary:
The Credentialing Coordinator ensures that Medical Staff Services functions effectively and efficiently in meeting physician needs; ensures that credentialing applications for all medical staff and allied health professional staff are complete and in accordance with hospital bylaws while adhering to Joint Commission standards and state regulations. Updates and maintains systems to identify medical staff members and their clinical privileges. Ensures that initial applications and reappointment applications to the medical staff and allied health professional staff are processed and completed in a timely way to facilitate decision making by service chiefs, the Credentials Committee, the Medical Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors. Ensures that all DEAs, malpractice insurance, and Kentucky licenses are current for all medical staff and allied health professionals as required by the hospital bylaws and Joint Commission standards. Provides temporary medical staff privileges as requested, adhering to hospital bylaws. Establishes application, data bank, and profile files and other files and records as necessary and ensures that they are kept current.
