The role involves measuring lung capacity, analyzing blood samples, and delivering respiratory therapy according to patient care plans. Responsibilities also include responding to emergency codes, educating patients and families, and maintaining respiratory care equipment.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or Associate Degree in Science and hold current RRT certification and Kentucky state licensure. BLS certification is required, and three or more years of cardiopulmonary experience is preferred.

Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.
Education: High School Diploma/GE or Associate Degree in Science required
Current Respiratory Therapist Licensure to practice in the state of Kentucky; Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date.
Three or more years of previous experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services preferred.
