Provide comprehensive, patient-centered care for infants, children, and adolescents, focusing on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Responsibilities include performing well-child exams, administering vaccinations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care.
Requires a medical degree (MD/DO) from an accredited school and completion of a 3-year pediatric residency. Candidates must be board certified or eligible and hold a valid South Carolina medical license and DEA license.
Offer culturally sensitive counseling on health, nutrition, safety, lifestyle, preventive care, developmental milestones, and disease management to patients, parents and caregivers. Participate in community health events, wellness fairs, and educational workshops.
Valid, active, and unrestricted South Carolina medical license (or ability to obtain). DEA license and prescriptive authority. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience or strong interest in working with Native American/tribal communities. Ability to work with children and manage stressful situations. Excellent verbal communication to explain complex medical issues to parents/caregivers and interact with children of all ages. Strong clinical and diagnostic practice skills for acute and complex issues. Commitment to patient-centered, culturally competent care and respect for traditional health practices. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) (e.g., Epic, Athena, Cerner). Ensuring accuracy in medical records and medication dosages. Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Work Environment Primary care clinic/outpatient medical offices. Fast paced setting with frequent patient interactions. Exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and medical waste. Use of electronic health records (EHR) systems and computers for documentation. Collaboration with nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare support professionals. Occasional telemedicine work from office or remote settings. May include extended hours, evenings, weekends, or on-call responsibilities. Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting and walking between exam rooms. Frequent sitting while charting or consulting with patients. Manual dexterity for performing exams, procedures, and using medical instruments. Repetitive motions such as typing and writing. Lifting or assisting patients, typically up to 50 lbs. Bending, stooping, and reaching during patient exams. Visual acuity for reading charts, examining patients, and using diagnostic tools. Ability to respond quickly in urgent or emergency situations. Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
