Major responsibilities/Essential functions
- Reporting to the Administrative Director, this position is responsible for planning, coordinating and providing high quality, individualized patient care using the components of the nursing process.
- Demonstrates knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, physiological normal values/readings; and assessing skin integrity, behavior, motor skills and/or activities that place patients at risk as well as communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. Applicable for the populations checked: Adult (x) Geriatric (x).
- Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, and adjusts nursing care interventions appropriately to ensure optimal patient care.
- Knowledgably administers medications per protocol/policy, observing and documenting patient’s response.
- Assess patients’ conditions and develops and updates individual plans of care
- Monitors physiological, cognitive status of patients and timely report changes to physicians and/or other appropriate personnel, includes follow-up on lab/test results.
- Documents in a clear, complete, legible, organized and timely manner, demonstrating critical thinking skill in the nursing process.
- Maintains current competencies and skill levels required for work/specialty area.
- Participates in quality and performance improvement programs
Job qualifications
- Minimum Education (Indicate minimum education or degree required.)
- Graduate of RN Training Program
- Completion of a basic EKG course
- Preferred Education (Indicate preferred education or degree required.)
- Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications (Indicate minimum years of job experience, skills or abilities required for the job.)
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to work in a union environment.
- Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications (Indicate preferred years of job experience, skills or abilities required for the job.)
- Minimum one (1) year recent experience in an acute care setting preferred.
- One (1) year experience in ICU setting preferred.
- Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation (List any licensure or certification required and specify name of agency.)
- California RN license
- American Heart Association BLS
- American Heart Association ACLS
- Basic EKG
- NIHSS (Stroke)
- Assault Response Competency (ARC) (required within 30 days of hire)
- Los Angeles County Fire Card (required within 30 days of hire)
