Requires a high school diploma or GED and one year of experience in social services or a related field. Must possess or be able to obtain CPR, First Aid, MindSet/CPI, and Defensive Driving certifications.
As a Behavioral Health Technician, you’ll work in our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Technician Manager. You'll provide direct support to clients, ensure their safety, and contribute meaningfully to a multidisciplinary team focused on recovery, dignity, and healing. This role is fast-paced, emotionally fulfilling, and critical to crisis care. Key Responsibilities Client Support Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) Monitor, observe, and document client behavior, condition, and safety Offer emotional support and crisis intervention Use de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe, therapeutic space Lead or support recovery-focused activities and group sessions Treatment Support Carry out treatment plans developed by clinicians Document client interactions and progress using Electronic Health Records (EHR) Monitor vital signs and assist in physical wellness checks Team Collaboration Work side-by-side with nurses, therapists, psychiatrists, and case managers Share timely updates about client status and care needs Attend team meetings and provide feedback on client progress Environment & Safety Maintain cleanliness, safety, and order on the unit Conduct routine safety checks and manage essential supplies Compliance & Ethics Adhere to all HIPAA, confidentiality, and organizational standards Complete mandatory training and participate in ongoing development What You Bring High school diploma or GED One year of experience in social services or related field CPR, First Aid, MindSet (or CPI equivalent), and Defensive Driving certification (or ability to obtain) Strong documentation and basic computer skills Preferred College coursework in psychology, social work, or a related field Two years of behavioral health experience Familiarity with crisis intervention and trauma-informed care Skills Empathy and patience in high-stress situations Excellent verbal and written communication Ability to de-escalate and support clients in crisis Team-first mindset with strong attention to detail Physical & Work Requirements Able to walk, stand, and sit for long periods Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs Comfortable working weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts Willing to work in a fast-paced environment with potential for exposure to combative behavior Why Join Claratel?
