The nurse is responsible for providing direct and indirect care to patients in the surgery pre-op holding area and the Post Anesthesia Care unit. This includes assessing patient status and providing age-specific care according to surgical department policies.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current Tennessee nursing license and BLS/ACLS certifications. One year of nursing experience is required, with one to three years of critical care experience preferred.
A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient in the BEH Surgery Pre-op Holding area and Post Anesthesia Care unit.

Required: Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations; knowledge of current trends and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education. One year nursing experience.
One to Three years' experience in critical care preferred.
The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the surgical department policies and procedures.
