Provide direct surgical care to patients under physician supervision across clinical, ASC, and hospital settings. Responsibilities include assisting in surgical procedures, managing pre- and postoperative care, and collaborating with clinical staff for continuity of care.
Requires graduation from an accredited PA program, a bachelor's degree, and PA licensure in DC, Virginia, and Maryland. Preferred candidates have at least two years of surgical specialty experience, specifically in Electrophysiology.
To provide direct care to surgical patients under the supervision of a physician/ surgeon either in a clinical or a hospital setting.
Assist Surgeon during surgical procedure by carrying out surgical functions as directed by the surgeon in order to ensure optimal results to the patient in clinic, ASC and area hospitals. Provide comprehensive inpatient, emergency room, pre- and postoperative evaluation, management, and care of surgical patients. Develop comprehensive plan of care and review with supervising physician. Assist in surgical rounds and call duties at area hospitals. Participate in patient education specific to surgical procedures and post-operative care. Perform medication reconciliation and help to arrange appropriate post-discharge follow up for all surgical patients. Determine order, interpret and document appropriate tests, treatments and drug prescriptions. Collaborate with the physician and other clinical staff members to maintain continuity of care. Refer patients to supervising physician or, with physician agreement, to other health/ professionals as appropriate. Participate in developing, reviewing and revising medical/surgical protocols. Participate in training of staff and students as necessary or indicated. Perform other related duties as directed.
Minimum two (2) years of assisting in surgical specialty experience is preferred; experience preferred in the specialty to which assigned. Demonstrated experience in clinical, hospital, and ambulatory procedures Surgical and first assist experience Electrophysiology experience strongly preferred
