Perform diagnostic sonography for obstetrics and gynecology patients following clinic protocols and safety measures. Manage clerical processes using RIS and PACS systems while maintaining equipment and documenting quality control.
Requires a high school diploma, RDMS (OB/Gyn) certification, BCLS certification, and at least 2 years of clinical experience in OB/Gyn scans. Preferred qualifications include a healthcare degree, Nuchal Translucency certification, and breast ultrasound experience.
Upon the order of a qualified provider, the Ultrasound Technologist utilizes equipment that employs high frequency sound waves for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Radiology and/or OB Department and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.
Imaging services include performing scans for obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) patients. The Ultrasound Technologist will utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) to complete clerical processes and the designated Patient Archiving System (PAC S).
May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience, and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties.
Performs diagnostic sonography according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC radiology and/or OB department. Understands and applies technical principles affecting optimal production of sonographic images, as well as anatomical orientations and anomalies affecting the final product. Understands age related communication needs of patients and can effectively convey instructions to patients to facilitate theperformance of sonographic studies Participates in Technical Quality Control measures, which include performance of routine equipment maintenance and reporting malfunctions or variances in equipment performance to the Medical Imaging Supervisor or his/her designee in the supervisor’s absence. Maintains necessary supplies and documentationof cleaning logs as applicable Uses RIS system correctly, according to Clinic and Department guidelines and properly documents, for the Interpreting physician review, atypical conditions, which could affect image quality and/or content. Understands PACS system and can identify problems with image transmission as they occur and notify Medical Imaging Supervisor or his/her designee when corrective actions are beyond the scope of the technologist Conscious of ultrasound safety measures. Utilizes sterile technique when necessary. Complies with all KSC safety initiatives Participates in formal and in-service training programs of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, department specific in services, and any applicable site-specific training. Maintains current applicable licenses and/or certifications and complies with continuing education requirements necessary to maintain same. May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience, and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor toperform those duties Interacts effectively with patients and coworkers, including staff assigned to other locations. Communicates readily and well with Supervisor, Lead, and Interpreting Physicians in giving and receiving feedback. Must have the ability to understand and respond to questions by giving information. High School diploma or GED from anaccredited program Education sufficient to meet applicant status with the ARDMS or ARRT (S) RDMS (OB/Gyn) BCLS certification 2+ years of clinical ultrasound experience in OB/Gyn scans Ability to use computer keyboard and grasp elements of digital image acquisition Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
