  • Category: Health CareThe person holding this position assists the Pharmacist and performs specific job responsibilities authorized by the Arkansas Board of Pharmacy Rules and Regulations. Maintains complete records of all pharmacy dispensing services and charges, performs other duties as assigned. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Assists the pharmacist in charge in procurement of pharmaceuticals, maintaining an appropriate inventory, processing outdated materials, processing invoices, maintain Accudose stations, accurate preparation and prompt delivery of medications, and internal maintenance duties to ensure high quality of pharmaceutical services. Performs a variety of general administrative duties to support the efficient functioning of the pharmacy department including charging and crediting of medications and detailed record keeping. Assist in orienting new pharmacy technicians and pharmacists. Maintains records and filing in support of departmental operations. Receives, unpacks and verifies pharmaceutical supplies and drug orders against packing slips to ensure appropriate items in proper quantities are received. Maintains records of inventory purchases, usage, and returns as directed by the pharmacist in charge. Verifies all purchase orders and receiving reports on all purchases. Maintains medication shelf labels with current contract and non-contract medications. Maintains drug formulary and service item master in hospital computer system including price updates and additions and deletions of formulary items. Charges all non-formulary items, floor stock, retail pharmacies, hospital pharmacies and other hospital departments and employees for items purchased by them. Maintains Accudose equipment including additions and deletions of medications, additions and deletions of Accudose users and system upgrades as well as record keeping. Maintains files and records required by law for safe keeping. Purchases and charges pharmaceuticals for other hospital departments as needed.
  • QualificationsEDUCATION
  • Required: High school graduate or GED. LICENSURE Certification preferred. EXPERIENCE 2 years Pharmacy experience preferred but not required.

Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to: Walking or standing for an hour or more at a time Lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 45 pounds Stooping and bending Reaching and grasping with arms and hands Proofreading and checking documents for accuracy Using a keyboard to enter or transform words or data Identifying and distinguishing colors Hearing in normal and soft tones Ability to read and understand written English words and sentences Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English words and sentences Ability to understand spoken English words and sentences Ability to communicate with others by telephone and e-mail Ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and with little direct supervision in planning and organizing workload Ability to judge the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems.
