Miami, FL Full-Time JS Cardiology Summary The PG - Medical Assistant Technician is specialized in work providing patient care and performing clerical duties in a physician practice setting. Emphasis of the work is on assisting physicians in the examination and treatment of patients and performing a variety of clerical tasks. Incumbents report directly to the Office Manager of the practice and is supervised by a provider when performing medical related duties.
Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to): Using computer applications; answering telephones; welcoming patients; updating and filing patient medical record; coding and filling out insurance forms; scheduling appointment; arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services; handling correspondence, billing and bookkeeping. Obtain authorization for ancillary and/or surgical procedures. Assist patients who call the office with post-op questions or concerns. Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to): Taking medical histories; Preparing patients for examination; Assisting the physician during exams and certain procedures; Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens; Performing basic laboratory tests; Drawing blood; Taking electrocardiograms. Bring patients into the exam room and obtain basic medical information - height, weight, BP, and pulse. Review medical history, family history, surgical history, and current medications with each patient. Perform blood draws, ECGs, and other tests as needed. Responsible for cleaning exam rooms and maintaining them with adequate supplies. May perform other advanced clinical duties under direction and supervision of a nurse or a physician, as needed based on assigned unit. Education High school diploma is required.
