Flexible schedule About the Opportunity KARE CENTER in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a passionate and skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) to join our growing behavioral health team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and integrated mental health care to a diverse patient population. You will work closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and primary care providers to deliver holistic, evidence-based, person-centered care in a collaborative and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations including mental status examinations, diagnostic interviews, and risk assessments. Diagnose and treat a wide range of psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and psychotic disorders. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor treatment response, and adjust regimens as clinically appropriate. Provide brief therapy, psychoeducation, and supportive counseling to patients and families. Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and primary care providers to ensure coordinated, integrated care. Conduct follow-up appointments to monitor medication efficacy, safety, and overall patient progress. Assess and manage psychiatric emergencies including risk assessments, safety planning, and coordination of higher levels of care. Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Requirements Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health from an accredited program. Active Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) certification and Michigan APRN license (or eligibility to obtain). DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain) for controlled substance prescribing. 1-3 years of clinical experience in psychiatry or behavioral health preferred. Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric treatment. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
