• Position Overview The Ortho Assistant performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills.
• To effectively and efficiently assist the dentist in providing dental care to patients and to promote Familia Dental’s culture and mission and values. .
• Responsibilities/ Duties: Maintaining accurate records of patients' oral health histories and treatment progress.
• Ensuring that all orthodontic instruments and equipment are properly sterilized before each use.
• Keeping patients’ mouths dry during orthodontic procedures by using a suction hose as needed.
• Taking intraoral X-rays of patients’ mouths.
• Taking photographs of patients’ teeth to aid the Orthodontist in developing treatment plans and to document patient progress.
• Taking dental molds of patients’ teeth for the fabrication of customized mouth guards and retainers.
• Removing and replacing wires, coil springs, donuts, and elastic bands.
• Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices and braces aftercare.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications/Skill Sets Expert-level knowledge of dental procedures and terminology Advanced proficiency in dental software and technology Strong leadership and mentoring skills Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities Superior communication skills with patients and team members Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment In-depth understanding of dental insurance and billing procedures Proficiency in infection control and sterilization techniques Ability to adapt to new technologies and procedures quickly Strong organizational and time management skills .
