Schedule

  • Monday-Friday 7:30
  • AM-4:00 PM.

The Interventional Radiology Care Specialist is responsible for assisting technologists, nurses, and physicians in caring for their patients during procedures, patient transport, inventory of supplies as necessary, and room turnover.

Job duties and responsibilities

  • Accurately completes EPIC training for invasive procedures
  • Collects and verifies all pertinent patient/procedure information
  • Completes supply and charge entry
  • Assists the technologists, nursing staff and Radiologists in the preparing the patient for their IR procedure
  • Assists the technologists, nursing staff and Radiologists during procedures pulling equipment and supplies supporting patient care
  • Verify correct patient is selected from worklist, ensures accuracy of Medical Record information prior to being sent to PACS
  • Maintain competence in the use of the Patient Transport System
  • Responsible for patient education and personalized business cards. Provides apology cards to all patients when expectations are not met.
  • Takes on-call as directed by manager

Physical and sensory requirements

  • Must be able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day in 60-minute increments.
  • Sitting for up to 1 hour per day in 15-minute increments.
  • Must be able to walk on level surfaces, stairs, carpeted surfaces, ramps for up to 30 minutes consecutively.
  • Must have the ability to lift/move objects up to 40 pounds, push/pull patients weighing up to 300 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally stoop/bend, crouch, kneel and reach above shoulder level.
  • Must have the ability to hear as it relates to normal conversation and the ability to hear call bells.
  • Must be capable of seeing as it relates to general vision, depth perception and peripheral vision.
  • Manual dexterity in order to type on a keyboard for up to 30 minutes at a time.
  • Frequent use of hands/fingers for data entry.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent required.

Training and experience

General computer skills and medical terminology necessary. Minimum 1-year hospital experience preferred.
