- VCA Mueller Pet Medical Center | Sacramento, CA Compensation: $20–22/hr VCA Mueller Pet Medical Center is a 24-hour AAHA-accredited hybrid GP/ER hospital in Sacramento seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support our growing General Practice and Urgent Care services.
- This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, values teamwork, and wants exposure to a wide variety of cases ranging from routine preventive care to urgent and same-day medical concerns.
- Our Veterinary Assistants play an active role in patient care and work closely alongside DVMs and the veterinary care team across both GP and Urgent Care workflows.

- Shifts vary between 5–8 hours scheduled Monday–Saturday, typically between 9am–6pm, 10am–7pm, or 11am–8pm Dynamic doctor team providing continuity of care from urgent/emergency visits through ongoing GP care Employee pet boarding opportunities Continuing growth in GP, urgent care, and emergency services What We’re Looking For We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant who: Thrives in a fast-paced environment Has strong foundational veterinary assistant skills Is comfortable supporting both routine and urgent care workflows Works well independently while valuing teamwork and communication Is adaptable, motivated, and eager to continue expanding their skillset Previous veterinary experience is required, with high-volume GP, urgent care, ER, or inpatient experience strongly preferred.
- The ideal candidate is someone who can confidently step into a busy hospital environment while helping support efficient patient flow and high-quality patient care.
- What You’ll Do Our Veterinary Assistants help support: Patient restraint and handling GP and urgent care appointments Laboratory and diagnostic support Treatment and procedural workflow Patient husbandry and cleanliness Client communication and education Collaboration with DVMs and the veterinary care team across departments Compensation & Benefits Compensation is based on experience and skillset.
