The Ophthalmic Technician 1 (OT1) is competent in the theory, principles, and practice of eye care. The position performs appropriate clinical testing in compliance with department standards and documents in the EMR system. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS Performs and documents the following items in the electronic medical record. Reason for visit Tangent screen visual fields Chief complaint Basic ocular motility History of present illness Pupillary evaluation Basic review of systems Ocular surface assessment Review systemic and ocular medications Eye drop administration Record allergies Intraocular pressure such as Goldman, Tono-Pen, and I-Care Pharmacy information Pachymetry Family, social, medical, and ocular history Insertion and removal of hard & soft contact lenses Visual acuity at distance and near Color vision test Lensometry Stereopsis test Manual refraction Sensorimotor exam Confrontational fields Automated & manual perimetry Humphrey visual fields Virtual Reality (VR) visual fields Amsler Grid visual fields Provides support to providers which includes documentation in patient charts as required and directed for patient care. Completes IVI (intravitreal injection) prep for patients. Facilitates motility exams.
