The Referral Specialist coordinates medical referrals by preparing clinical documentation and scheduling appointments with specialty providers. They are also responsible for verifying insurance coverage, obtaining authorizations, and maintaining patient records within the EHR.
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or a High School diploma with at least one year of experience as a Medical Office Assistant or Receptionist. Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records and strong communication skills are required, with bilingual abilities preferred.
The Referral Specialist is to assist in care coordination of services as it relates to referrals generated by medical provider. The Referral Specialist is responsible for preparation of the referrals and ensures all necessary clinical information is included/attached, making appointments with referral sources on behalf of the patient.
