Perform various cardiac ultrasound imaging exams, including echocardiograms and stress echoes, for inpatients and outpatients. Assist cardiologists with transesophageal echocardiograms in the cath lab and report critical findings.
Requires a degree or certificate in echocardiography or non-invasive technology and one year of hospital-based experience. BLS certification is required, and RCS or RDCS certification must be obtained within 12 months.
Position Title: Cardiac Sonographer
Purpose & Scope: The cardiac sonographer assists with performing different modalities of cardiac ultrasound imaging exams for inpatients and outpatients. Responsibilities include performing echocardiograms, stress echoes, and intra-operative echocardiograms. They assist the cardiologist with standard transesophageal echocardiograms, and intra-operative transesophageal echocardiograms performed in the cath lab for structural heart cases.. The knowledge to discern and effectively report critical findings is required. Other responsibilities include typing preliminary reports, TEE probe cleaning, and other duties as delegated, Must have efficient computer skills. Must be able to communicate effectively.
Certificate in echocardiography, degree in echocardiography, or a degree in non-invasive technology is required.
