The Medical Assistant supports the cardiology care team by performing delegated clinical tasks and high-level functions for patients and families. Responsibilities include administering medications, collecting vital signs, and documenting care in medical records.
Fairview has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant to join our Cardiology Care team in Burnsville, MN This is a 0.01 FTE (Casual/on-call position), non-benefits-eligible opening.
Clinic Hours of Operation are Monday–Thursday: 7:00AM–6:00PM and Friday: 7:00AM–5:00PM.
No weekends!
As a member of the care team, the Medical Assistant supports quality patient- and family-centered care principles through performing a variety of high-level functions within a care team to support the needs of the healthcare team and patients/families.
The Medical Assistant delivers care as delegated by the physicians/authorized practitioner, or registered nurse (RN) to assigned patient populations or individual patients.
Delegates care may include (but is not limited to): medication administration, vaccine administration, injections, phlebotomy (blood draws), assisting with sterile procedures, collecting vital signs.
Delivers care as delegated by the physician/authorized practitioner or RN, to assigned patient population, or individual patient. Prioritizes work based on patient acuity, available resources, patient/family preferences, provider schedule, in collaboration with the physician/authorized practitioner and other health care team members. Performs high and low risk technical procedures defined by the clinical setting includes medication and vaccine administration, specimen collection, assistance with CPR. Effectively communicates compliance and concerns to delegating physician/authorized practitioner/RN. Takes action to assure continuity of care for all assigned patients. Documents care in the medical record. Required Qualifications Possess a Medical Assistant Diploma with proof of completion of a 160-hour externship or Certified Medical Assistant American Associate of Medical Assistants or Medical Technologist American Medical Technologists Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
